Delicate and Undergarment Care Guide
Use the Appropriate Detergent
We recommend that you either hand wash or launder these items on your machine's gentle cycle and always use an extremely mild detergent, like Roux Maison Delicate Detergent. Many leading brand detergents have multiple chemicals that can break down the fibers of your fabrics, particularly delicate ones.
Dry Gently
It is always best to air dry.  Otherwise, use the lowest heat setting on the dryer for delicate items.  Items can be air fluffed in the dryer for a few minutes to restore loft, if needed.
Types Of Delicates
Bras and Lingerie
Pre-treat perspiration stains.  Add a small amount of Roux Maison Delicate Detergent and soak in warm water for 30 minutes before laundering.  Use fine mesh bags to wash your delicates. Bras, camisoles, slips, hosiery, and any lingerie with straps that can get twisted, hooks that can get caught, as well as underwire that can bend, should always be placed in mesh bags.  Fasten clasps and bindings before placing in the bags.  Launder your bras, lingerie and undergarments separately from heavier items, which may be abrasive to more delicate fabrics and damage them in the wash.
Always launder lingerie on your machine's gentle or hand wash cycle.  Use Roux Maison Delicate Detergent for lace, shapewear and other delicate fabrics; cotton and synthetic blends may be washed using either Roux Maison Delicate or Essential Detergent.
Fine bras, camisoles, your most delicate lingerie and fabrics, should all be hand washed to achieve the best results. Soak items in warm or cool water with Roux Maison Delicate Detergent. Swish the items around gently to be sure the suds go all through the fabrics, allow to soak for 15-30 minutes, carefully rinse, do not wring or twist, and hang or lay flat to dry.
Baby Clothes
The entire family of Roux Maison detergents is gentle enough for baby clothes and should have great results, but we recommend using either Roux Maison Essential or Roux Maison Delicate Detergent which should both be appropriate for most baby clothes.  Because infants have sensitive skin, they may not respond well to the myriad of chemicals found in many other detergents.
Spot treat stains with Roux Maison Stain Remover before laundering.  Wash items in warm water and tumble dry on low heat.
Cloth Diapers
Launder using hot water and Roux Maison Essential Detergent.  Dry on high. The heat will help kill germs.
Swimsuits
Always rinse swimsuits as soon as you take them off to remove chlorine, salt water, perspiration and sunscreen.  This will help prevent fading and damage to the elastic and the fabric.  Follow instructions for laundering everyday bras/lingerie.  Wash with Roux Maison Swimwear Detergent, using the hand wash or delicate cycle on your machine. Hang or lay flat to dry.
Shapewear
Use Roux Maison Delicate Detergent to maintain spandex in shapewear.  Hang or lay flat to air dry, or else tumble dry on the lowest setting for a very short cycle.
