It also works wonders not just on clothing, but also on upholstery fabrics and all of your household linens. Use it on table cloths and napkins just as you would on your clothing. It’s great for spot treating your pillows and furniture too. Make sure you use a clean cloth that will not leave behind lint when applying it. You’re going to need Roux Maison Stain Remover to get rid of all of your holiday stains – stock up!

There are a couple of good stain removal rules to always follow. When you find a stain, try to determine what kind of stain it is. This will dictate the best course of action for getting rid of it. Next, try to remove as much of it as possible without rubbing it back into the fabric prior to any treatment. Scrape off anything that you can.

We’ll try to cover some of the main stain categories so you will have a plan. Also remember never put anything in the dryer prior to a full and complete evaluation to make sure the stain is gone. We are big fans of air drying and prefer it over the dryer for everything except towels. The dryer will set any stains that remain on the fabric and make it virtually impossible to get them out afterwards. If you find that any stain remains after washing, you can always repeat the process and you will usually have better results on the second attempt if you did not use the dryer. Sunlight is also a great aid in bleaching out residual stains after washing and it also speeds drying time.

Oily stains like salad dressing or gravy

The first thing you want to do is blot up and scrape off as much of the oil as you can without rubbing more if it into the fabric. Trying to pre-treat a blob of oil will not work well. Both talcum powder and cornstarch work well to absorb excess oil in fabrics. Apply a generous amount of either one to completely cover the stain and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes to absorb the oil and then scrape it off with something flat and dull like a butter knife. If you see that the powder is fully saturated and there’s more oil on the fabric, scrape off the powder and repeat this process until the oil seems to be absorbed by the powder. Roux Maison Stain Remover can be now be applied to the stain. Work it into the stain and use cold water to try to rinse out the remaining oil. Apply some more Roux Maison Stain Remover to the stain and soak it in cool water for about 30 minutes. Launder as usual with the appropriate Roux Maison laundry detergent on the warmest recommended water temperature. Once again, do not place anything in the dryer without a thorough examination and air dry whenever you can.

Cranberry and fruit stains

Lucky you, Roux Maison Stain Remover is magic with these! First, scrape off any excess that you can and rinse out the fabric with cool to warm water to remove as much of it that is still embedded in the fabric as possible. Apply Roux Maison Stain Remover to the entire stain and work it in with your finger or an old toothbrush. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes or longer and then rinse again with cool to warm water. If the stain remains, apply 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts water and let that sit for about 10 minutes prior to re-applying Roux Maison Stain Remover and laundering as usual with the appropriate Roux Maison laundry detergent. Hang dry.

Jello

Hold the fabric taut and from the back of the fabric, run hot water through the stain. Apply Roux Maison Stain Remover and let the fabric soak in cool to warm water for about 30 minutes prior to laundering as usual with the appropriate Roux Maison laundry detergent. Do not heat dry.

Vegetable stains

Scrape off any excess and holding the fabric taut, rinse with cold water from the back of the fabric to remove. Apply Roux Maison Stain Remover directly to the affected area and allow to sit for about 30 minutes. Wash in the warmest water possible for the fabric with the appropriate Roux Maison laundry detergent. Air dry.

We hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving and a fast and easy clean up. We’re here to help because we love your laundry! On to the next holiday!
